WTSC-485 Wiegand To Serial Converter

The Wiegand To Serial Converter (WTSC) integrates all standard Wiegand based reader technologies into other applications. The WTSC automatically converts 2 Wiegand inputs from 24-bit up to 40-bit to formatted ASCII string or MODBUS protocol. In addition, commands can be used to control the reader's LED.

The WTSC has a dual Wiegand (Input) interfaces for reading and control 2 access control devices like card readers. The reason is that in some cases it there is a card reader outside and inside of the door. Both readers share the 3 digital outputs to control the LED’s and a buzzer.

The WTSC has either a RS-485 or RS-232 (on request) interface. Through this interface the WTSC is connected to a access controller (door controller). The access controller reads (poll) the information from the WTSC and controls the digital outputs and the relay which normally opens the door.

The used protocol is MODBUS (a de-facto industry standard). Other protocols on request.

Tested with readers and access control solutions from HID Global.
